Health & Safety – its part of our culture
Flowline actively looks for initiatives that increase the Health & Safety of our team, our partners and the public.
We promote reporting of Near Misses, Unsafe Acts/Conditions and Incidents. We have made this as easy as possible for our team by introducing the FieldViewer App on the Company issued smart phones. The Operative can report any incident in a few seconds. This goes straight onto a system for action, while sending an email to several senior staff (MD, Head of Operations, HSEQ Manager and Team Leaders). This ensures that they will be seen anytime night or day.
All incidents are investigated to find the root cause. This is done by TOPSET Trained personnel. Actions are put in place and briefed out to the company via a safety alert email, posters or Tool Box Talks.
We carry out thorough Inductions on all new staff and re-induct every three years. Flowline carries out Drug and Alcohol Tests on all staff during induction, Random testing and due cause. A medical assessment is carried out by our Occupational Health Provider. This ensures we provide the correct adjustments where possible or restrict staff from undertaking certain duties that may cause them health issues.
Flowline engages its staff on reviewing Risk Assessments and Method Statements. All new staff are asked to review them during their first week and give feedback whether they have previous experience or not. This engagement ensures the operatives know and trust the systems put there for them.
We have invested in providing the latest confined space equipment and ensure our teams carry out the highest levels of training for these tasks. Flowlines experience in this field has led to requests for advice from many of our clients.
We have empowered our staff to be able to take time to look at the task, carry out a Point of Work Risk Assessment and if needed stop the work and ask advice. We have an ethos of getting the job done, but getting it done safely.
We are keen to work with our clients and partners and share best practice and innovations. We take part in many working groups and work with our clients on finding mutual benefits for all involved. We are on the Technical Committee of the Water Jetting Association and help set standards of safety for all businesses that undertake High Pressure Water Jetting.
Flowline have recently further enhanced our performance by introducing paperless audits and DSE Risk Assessments. This also assists with reducing our effects on the environment.
Flowline has made massive advances in its own Health and Safety over the last 2 to 3 years. Our Plan Do Check Act cycle rotates and makes improvements where scope is found. We aim to continue our excellent record. However, we are also constantly looking forward for further improvements that may assist the team operate beyond our already high standards for our clients in a safe manner.
Members of the Water Jetting Association (WJA). Our HSEQ Manager is part of the WJA Technical Committee and takes part in talks where industry best practice is discussed. The WJA produce the Code of Practise for High Pressure Water Jetting.
Great systems
I was impressed with some of the great systems that Flowline have in place .I have talked to our Regional Director today and mentioned that there are an awful lot of suppliers out there that could seriously benefit from what products Flowline have in place
